Record a suitability rationale before advice goes out

Check each recommendation against the signed advisory agreement, client-consented risk profile and agreed scope, then test its suitability. Investment advisers can withhold unsuitable advice and file a signed, dated rationale, showing a reasonable basis when a client complains or SEBI inspects.

Starts when

  • An adviser is about to give a recommendation to an advisory client
  • A client reports a change in circumstances, or the client's risk-profile refresh falls due under firm policy
  • Compliance selects advice records for periodic review, the annual compliance audit or a complaint

The process is a starting point. The standards are yours.

Configure for the SEBI registration, exchange membership and business activity. Broker, fund, portfolio-manager and investment-adviser requirements are separate.
